Oppo Reno 8 Pro Plus Detailed Description:

Oppo Reno 8 Pro Plus takes the Bold design of Oppo Reno 7, Reno 7 Pro and the Oppo Reno 6. The Galaxy starts in your hands with an original semiconductor industry technology, this phone is exquisitely crafted for a delicate touch, it’s skillfully chiseled for a smooth tough experience that you won’t let go of. The phone weighs 183 grams and measures 161.2 x 74.2 x 7.3 mm (6.35 x 2.92 x 0.29 in).

Much like the design, it’s unilateralist for the Oppo Reno 8 Pro Plus display. Like the Oppo X3 Pro and Find X5 Pro, the new Reno has a 6.7-inch AMOLED, 120Hz, HDR10+ display, which curves at the edges for a 90.3% screen-to-body ratio.

Oppo still touts a 10-bit display that can show 1 billion colors. While there’s not many Apps out there that can really take advantage of this, it’s nice to know the capability is in your hand. Peak brightness is rated at 950 nits, which means the RENO 8 PRO PLUS display is bright enough to see all manner of content in a variety of conditions. It can’t quite keep up with the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s 1,750-nit peak brightness or the Galaxy S20 Ultra’s 1,342 nits, but otherwise the display is great for viewing pretty much anything from flicking through Gmail to Gaming.

The decision by Oppo to lift the Reno 8 Pro’s camera to the Pro Plus was lame. I mean how do you use the same camera for a near flagship phone like the Oppo Reno 8 Pro Plus? However, Oppo is betting on a brand-new MariSilicon X Imaging neural processing unit (NPU) to aid with computational photography and video, especially in low light. Starting with the main camera, the Reno 8 Pro Plus can trade blows, more or less, with the Best camera phones in Kenya in a variety of conditions.

It does a great job at capturing plenty of detail, brightness and solid dynamic range. However, the Reno 8 Pro Plus does have a tendency to oversaturate colors and go a little heavy on brightness, meaning some shadows get squashed and a little depth in an image is lost. The 32MP front-facing camera is a standard shot that does a good job picking out detail in both the side of an image that’s hit by sunlight and the parts in the shadow.

Armed with a flagship-grade MediaTek Dimensity 8100-Max (5 nm) and supported by 12GB of RAM, the new Reno Pro Plus has plenty of performance upgrades that it can tap into. Although it’s behind the Black Shark 5 and the Huawei P50 Pro, you will find the performance good and gloriously slick, with snappy animations and a responsive touchscreen thanks to a higher Hz sampling rate. The phone’s software is based on the latest Android 12, ColorOS 12.1.

Battery Life

The phone features a 4500mAh Battery under the hood which offers a battery life of up to 9 hours and 59, according to a report by OPPO. The powerful and long life mechanism offers a 80W Fast charging that fills up the phone from 1% to 45% in 10 min, and 1-100% in 31 min (advertised). Reverse charging is also available.
